Strike Anchors can be drilled into medium to heavy concrete. These anchors can also be used for anchoring outlet boxes, stadium seats, wood or steel plates, conveyor systems, handrails and much more. No templates are needed for installation and the process is quick and easy.

  1. Drill hole of sufficient depth using carbide bit the same diameter as the anchor being installed.
  2. Clean out hole of all dust.
  3. Place washer and nut on anchor, turning nut on to anchor as required. May be flush with top or turned on fully to provide stud finish.
  4. With nut, washer, and set-pin in place, insert anchor through the material to be fastened and in to the concrete base material.
  5. Using a proper sized hammer, set pin with several sharp and square strikes on head of pin until pin is flush with top of anchor. Anchor is now properly set.
  6. No need to torque nut to set anchor.

It is important to note that strike anchors are designed for use in solid concrete applications only. These anchors can’t be used when anchoring into brick or block. When dealing with a brick or block application, another type of anchor should be used such as a metal hit anchor.

Before any drilling or installation can begin, the hole size required for the strike anchor being used in the project needs to be determined. The hole size needed for a specific diameter strike anchor is always equal to the diameter of the anchor.  For example, a 3/8” strike anchor requires a 3/8” hole.  To determine the length of the strike anchor needed, add the thickness of the material to be fastened plus the minimum embedment for the diameter of the anchor being used. Then take this number and add the thickness of the nut and washer. This complete sum will determine the length of strike anchor you will need for your application. When fastening to solid concrete, a hole needs to be drilled into the base material. A hammer drill must be used as it will create the best hole. Once the bit is chucked into the hammer drill, the depth of the hole can easily be set by using the depth gauge on the hammer drill or by simply wrapping the bit with tape at the depth that is required. 

Safety is always first- before drilling any hole, it is important to use eye and ear protection. The hammer drill should be in the hammer mode to start drilling your hole. Continue drilling until the tape on the bit or depth gauge meets the base material. Next, clean the hole of all concrete dust to ensure proper fastening. Using a wire brush and a vacuum or compressed air will ensure that the hole is cleaned out properly. Place the fixture over the hole making sure that the hole in the fixture is large enough to allow the strike anchor to be inserted through it. Take the strike anchor and place the nut and washer on the threaded end so as to protect the threads when hammering the anchor into the hole. Place the anchor through the fixture and into the hole tapping as need until the nut and washer are tight against the fixture.  Next, take a hammer and drive the head of the nail in until it is flush against the anchor body.  This tells you the anchor is properly set.  Finally, tighten the nut making sure not to overtorque.  Overtorque can cause damage to the anchor and the base material as well as the fixture being fastened.
